Overview
The Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery is one of the few places in the country that combines clinical practice, research, and training all in one location. University of Minnesota Physicians specialists use state-of-the-art tools, technology and applied research to perform a wide array of minimally invasive procedures. These range from common operations, such as gall bladder removal, to some of the most complex, such as robotic-assisted heart surgery and the treatment of esophageal cancer.

Our surgeons operate in dedicated surgical suites at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview. Minimally invasive techniques reduce the trauma associated with traditional surgical procedures so patients may experience less pain after surgery, shorter hospital stays, lower risks of infection, quicker return to normal activities, and less scarring.

The Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery is a virtual institute comprised of specialists from the various surgical areas. MIS staff members are available to answer questions at 612-626-8430, but patient appointments can be scheduled via the physicians' individual clinics.
