About Gamma Knife
Specialists at University of Minnesota Physicians perform stereotactic radiosurgery at using the Gamma Knife system, among other technologies. This system can be used as an alternative to standard neurosurgery or as an adjunct therapy in the treatment of residual or recurrent lesions left unresected (unaffected or untouched) by conventional surgery. Gamma Knife technology has an impressive history of success through more than four decades of extensive research, clinical experience, and imaging technology advances. Today, the Gamma Knife system is accepted as an excellent treatment option for many types of brain tumors.
